Why did you choose to volunteer at Bread for Life?

Volunteering is something I got from my dad, Angelo R .DAgostino, Mayor of Meriden, Sclafani foods. He’s well known to everyone, born and raised in the Southington area. He always helped out people. I have been cooking for 42 years, I’ve seen it all and I wanted to help people in need.

What has been the best part of your volunteer experience?

Giving back is priceless. I started volunteering in Meriden for the YMCA on Thanksgiving and Christmas and now that I own a catering company I can do more to help out. I get to do a lot for Bread for Life, like raise money at the Apple Harvest. We also donate food from Bristol Event Center, where I have my full time job. It feels good to make people happy when we donate.

How has volunteering impacted your life?

I have a gift for cooking and making people happy. I thank God every day for the chance to help people and make them happy.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about volunteering?

It’s a great feeling knowing that someone has our back. I know that someday I might need help and I would hope someone would be there for me, too.
