Summer Lunch Programming

We are looking for groups, organizations, and teams to provide exciting programming for our dine-in guests for Summer Lunch.
Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we welcome guests at DePaolo Middle School and offer a delicious meal and fun programs!

Adult Summer Opportunities

Last year, our Summer Lunch Program served over 5,000 meals to youth in our community.
We have a variety of needs for this summer’s program, including lunch prep at DePaolo, camp lunch prep at Bread for Life, and more!

Youth Summer Opportunities

Our middle and high school volunteers are also welcome to join us for lunch prep this summer.
We have opportunities to prepare meals at Bread for Life for our camp lunch program or help with events at our Summer Lunch Program.
This is a perfect opportunity for those interesting in serving their community and those with required service hours.

Garden Volunteers

Each year, we plant seeds of hope and harvest the benefits throughout the summer. We are looking for garden volunteers to help tend to our garden, including watering, weeding, harvesting and more! We use the produce from this garden to provide fresh ingredients in the meals we prepare in our kitchen.

Meal Delivery

Deliver meals 1-4 times per month to home-bound clients in Southington.

  • Able to lift more than 10 pounds
  • Must have current driver’s license
  • Must have proof of individuals auto insurance

Committee Members

Opportunities are available for people who are interested in participating on committees that performs research and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for actions and decisions.

Court Appointed

Bread for Life, a non profit organization, is able to accept a limited number of volunteers that need to fulfill 50 hours or less under Court Ordered Community Service.

Applicants will not work with our clients.  Assignments may include outside cleaning, building cleaning and upkeep, janitorial services, and garden work.

Documentation from the court verifying the reason needed to complete these hours is required before hours can be started.  Please note, we are not able to provide evening hours.  Hours available are 10:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday-Friday.

Bread for Life will not guarantee Community Service hours. The approval of hours is done at the approval of the Executive Director after application is completed, along with documentation from the court verifying the reason needed for the hours.

Group Volunteer Activities

We welcome businesses, civic organizations, church groups and the like to volunteer together doing projects such warehouse sorting, seasonal clean ups, building projects and assisting at special events. Please contact Missy Cipriano to setup dates and projects.
